Training or Rehabilitation?

Michelle has lost count of the clients where a their bomb proof family pony has, within a few days or weeks, turned into a nightmare or gelding through no apparent reason that they could see. Maybe the situation would resolve itself or not, but the dilemma is that you are left with an equine family member that you do not want to sell coupled with the fear that working the horse could worsen the situation or even put a family member in danger.

But rehabilitation help is at hand……

With the ever increasing availability of obtaining a horse through traditional channels, the internet, or rehabilitation/rehoming organisations, the opportunity for owning a horse has probably never been easier. The downside to this is that many lack a solid foundation, may be partially or badly trained, have picked up vices or been damaged in many other ways. The urge to offer a new life is laudable but if the horse is not attuned to its new world or owner then there is probably going to be an issue at some point.

But training help is at hand…...

Finally, whilst our focus is largely upon the horse, we as riders may also require a little of both remedies. Its too easy to fall into bad habits and become over reliant on the crop or harsh on the reins. TLC rider training is available, as are techniques & drills for maintaining your horses’ improvements.
